Gatlinburg, Tennessee is less than five hours from a ridiculous number of cities: Nashville, Cincinnati, Charlotte, Louisville and Atlanta to name a few. This Smoky Mountain town makes for an oddly-accessible and drivable getaway.
Gatlinburg also exists in the squishy middle of a vin diagram where natural beauty and man-made, kitschy attractions meet. For those literal and metaphorical reasons, we landed on the insight that a Gatlinburg getaway is "far enough" for just about anyone.
For harried travelers, a getaway that doesn't involve a security checkpoint is an appealing prospect.
So let's get folks' attention when the realization that airports truly suck is on their mind. We'll strategically place ads along terminal exits and at baggage claims at airports within driving distance of Gatlinburg.
